Global Sayings

Global issues have been the focus of Claudia Wimmer’s artistic work for many years. To what extent does globalization influence the everyday life of people? Which habits and customs change and which remain the same? What is clear is that the deeper globalization penetrates people’s everyday lives the greater becomes their need to hold on to something that they feel is their own and which epitomizes the character of where they come from. At the same time however there is a growing sense of shared understanding and experience that transcends regions and nations. Popular sayings reflect this development and are to be found in all languages and regions of the world.

All the sayings are authentic. Their visualization through simple, occasionally colored, ink drawings complete with graphical side elements accentuate the message behind each of the Global Sayings. Extracts of the sayings in their original language indicate their country of origin.
