The Cut-Out-Jobs series deals with changing times in professions. Many occupations are closely linked to their history and have become redundant or no longer lucrative due to changing needs, technological progress, and other lifestyle habits. The light cleaner and the bird catcher are examples of this. The technique of paper cutting, now known as cut-out, is a fitting medium for this.
