What is the impact of globalisation on people’s everyday lives? What perception do people have of their own world and that of others? The Intrusions on Paradise series of works focuses on the artist’s own view and the view of others, as well as the fissures and faults resulting from change. At first glance, the oil paintings and drawings depict views much loved by locals and tourists alike. However, their beauty is marred: fissures, stains, burns, and posters coming away from the wall – all serving as metaphors for natural and man-made disasters, for the veneer which so often belies reality.
